In addition to summarizing the existing methodology and outlining the possibilities that the water footprint offers for the successful implementation of the SDGs, if methodological weaknesses are overcome, the GRoW projects involved make a number of recommendations on how to deal with the water footprint. It is vital that regional impacts of human water use, contrary to other scientific work, must be assessed. The dossier represents a joint positioning of the participating GRoW projects with respect to the water footprint. It was successfully presented at this year's World Water Week in Stockholm and was received with great interest by the audience.
